📍 Zum Kropf (Grand Swiss/Bavarian restaurant in 15th-century house). Address: In Gassen 16, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland
On the day 3, we decided to skip breakfast and go straight for brunch since we wanted to catch up on some sleep and not wake up too early. If you're in Zurich, this place is a must-visit! It’s a true gem offering authentic Swiss cuisine and has become my favourite spot.
The restaurant embodies traditional Swiss charm, from its ambiance and décor to its focus on local dishes. The service is top-notch and very professional. It's conveniently located near Bahnhofstrasse and features a beautifully painted ceiling that adds to its historic charm. The atmosphere is simply lovely.
The dark Amber ZHK 4 dl for CHF 7.20 was just okay, but the homemade beer, Quollfrisch, priced at CHF 8.90, was fantastic! I really enjoyed it; it has a sweet barley flavour with a rich wheat aroma and a hint of sweetness.
You have to try the Kalbsbratwurst rosti for CHF 25.50 and the Wiener schnitzel with fries for CHF 40.00. The traditional Wiener schnitzel, made from veal, was tender and packed with flavor, and the sausages were delicious too. We relished every moment there. If you want to experience Swiss cuisine, this is definitely the place to go.
I gave Zum Kropf a solid 9 out of 10, which is pretty impressive for a dining experience, and I rated Zeughauskeller a perfect 10 out of 10. Both places are fantastic and definitely worth checking out when you're in Zurich.
If you're looking to enjoy Swiss cuisine, these spots are top-notch. The vibe is exactly what you'd hope for in a classic Swiss restaurant.
The caramel kopfli for CHF 8.50 was decent; the caramel pudding wasn’t as smooth as I’d wanted for, but it still tasted good. In total CHF 90,10 (£82.00). In summary, if you’re looking to try Swiss food, this restaurant is an excellent choice. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Swiss eatery.
After brunch, we’ll be heading out of town to unwind at our B2 luxurious hotel. This is our signature pose from 19 years ago. We promised we’d strike this same pose when we got older.
From Ruby Mimi to the B2 hotel takes around 10 minutes ride, and we only paid CHF 11.47 (£10.40) for the Uber.
📍 B2 Hotel Zürich, Brandschenkestrasse 152, 8002 Zürich, Switzerland.
When we got to B2, the reception was super friendly. They helped us with our luggage and offered us a welcome drink, which was sparkling wine. They then took us to our room, showed us around, and let us know that all the drinks in the fridge are complimentary for hotel guests.
We stayed at all four-star hotels, the last day is the priciest, costing CHF 520 and £485. This rate includes access to a hot spa with stunning city views and a bottle of sparkling wine. It's a great deal for the price.
It's one of the most expensive spots we've stayed at on this trip. The price covers breakfast, a 3 PM check-in, and a 1 PM late check-out, plus you get access to the spa and a bottle of sparkling wine. I truly think it’s a great deal for a relaxing getaway.
Dinner here is super chill! We really enjoy sipping on jasmine green tea in the B2 library, 3 cups jasmine, 5 for each cup. I ordered the free-range corn-fed chicken dishes for 38, and it's fantastic, while my husband ordered different dishes, flank steak 40, and the dessert 13 Swiss franc.
The only downside is that the seating isn't ideal; the best spots for videos and photos are in the middle near the staircase. The overall vibe of the service, food, and drinks is really warm and inviting. I typically leave a £5 tips for the waiter to express my gratitude for excellent service, enjoyable dining experiences, and fantastic atmosphere. Dinner at B2 Library - CHF 106 (£97+ £5 = £103)
After our early dinner, we relax at the hotel and get set for the spa, both indoors and outdoors. You can't bring your iPhone or camera to the pool site, especially during busy times and many peoples are there.
A great tip is to head to the heated pool right when it opens in the morning, go before breakfast. You can be the first one there and bring a GoPro for a quick shot on the pool site. After that, you can enjoy your breakfast. When the views are stunning and the pool is crowded in the afternoon, we chose not to film and instead just soaked in the beautiful scenery and relaxed in the spa. We didn't take any videos because it felt a bit awkward with so many peoples around.
Day 4 - 21 February 2025 (Friday)
Breakfast at B2 Library - 6.30am-11am.
1pm late check out!
I had breakfast in the most beautiful library in Zürich! I savoured over 3 cups of jasmine green tea; it's warm, aromatic, and incredibly smooth to sip. It reminds me of what I enjoy at home—such a delightful experience!
At B2, all the breads for breakfast come straight from Babu's bakery, and they're freshly made everyday. You can request either a fried egg or scrambled eggs. After breakfast, we treated ourselves to another cup of jasmine tea and spent some time reading in the library to unwind. Since it's our final day and our flight isn't until 6 PM, we chose to relax and hang out at the library instead of heading out.
I drink champagne when I'm happy :) cheers to all of you. Don't stay in a bad situation, no matter what's happening, choose to be happy. It’s all about making that choice. When you’re happy, you spread joy to those around you. Happiness doesn’t come from your possessions, your identity, your location, or your activities; it’s all about your mindset.
Zurich Airport
Uber 2:30pm - early to airport and check in luggage.
From B2 Hotel to Zurich Airport takes around 25 minutes, and we only paid CHF 33.66 (£30) for the Uber. We arrived at the airport more than 3 hours early to explore everything in Switzerland's airport. The airport is amazing—there are great Swiss restaurants everywhere, and I enjoyed Swiss beers, very much.
Eat in Air Restaurant Zurich Airport - AIR restaurant £18.07
The sausages are fantastic! The fried are super fresh, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not greasy at all. I’m amazed that the food at the Switzerland airport can be this delicious!
Since our flights are still early, we decided to check out airport restaurant nearby. The views from the window are breathtaking—the clear blue sky is gorgeous, and we can see planes taking off for other destinations.
Drink Swiss beer and coke cola in the airport - Sportbar Terasse Bar £15. So, we’re just going to kick back with a drink and wait for our flights to be called.
Airport Beer £6 - Arrived Amsterdam and drink German wheat beer. It's called Paulaner while waiting the flight.while waiting the flight.
When we got to our local airport, it was almost 10 PM. It’s usually pretty windy and chilly there. We have the local taxi app, so once we grab our luggages, we’ll use it to order a ride. Sometimes, there are taxis waiting at the main terminal, so we’ll check that out too.
Making these travel videos has been pretty time-consuming with all the editing, writing, and voiceover I do myself. I'm planning to switch up my travel video style on my next trip to make it simpler and quicker. I'm curious to see how it turns out!
Link Taxi £30 - Home sweet home! I really missed it after that quick getaway. The taxi drivers were super friendly and helpful too. Our Switzerland travel series has wrapped up with episode 3.
Helpful Tips - Our 4 day 3 nights Zurich trip (From day1 £348 +day2 £470 + day3 £680 + day4 £100 + flights £604.60 = ''£2202.60'' RM13,000) for 2 of us. The expenses actually are very much lower than our expectation, it is normally each trip we spent at least more than £3500. I think it is because we shorten our trip in 4 days instead of one week, and the hotels are not that expensive, we also use less uber in Zurich, like a local yummy food tour, all the famous restaurant and landscape sign seeing are just nearby to our hotels. 3 months ago we have been in Paris, the Uber costs in only 7 days, it costs nearly £500. From this trip experienced. The local foods, hotels and groceries we think they are very much similar to Paris, and all the 4 stars hotels cost in the great location city of Zurich are not that expensive as we imagine.
From this trip, we found that local food, hotels, and groceries in Zurich are quite similar to what we experienced in Paris. The 4-star hotels in prime locations in Zurich turned out to be more reasonably priced than we expected. I’m definitely planning to explore Switzerland again!
